Belated May the 4th be with you...

So my weekend was a little busy, but all good because I managed to have a "Craftanoon" with some friends. I still don't have a single friend nearby who stamps as seriously as I do (that also happen to be in my age group!). However, it turns out my friends are into a bit of crafts and already had their initial "Craftanoon" making candles, and wanted something new. Therefore, with Mothers' Day looming ahead this weekend, we proposed to hold a stamping session.

I do admit, I managed to drag most of my posessions and overwhelmed the crowd. They did think it was all very cool though!

It was a little difficult to get much done as I spent most of the afternoon showing how to stamp and explaining what on earth that green machine called Cuttlebug was for.

Anyway, I did manage to make a Mothers' Day card. I was determined to use my new sets that had arrived last week. Hello, Foxy was out of question since I ripped the stamp into two after 2nd use :(

But anyway, here it is...

I also made a card before my Hello, Foxy stamp split into two. I had to make a thank you card to someone at the hospital who kindly donated an old radio for my Girl Guides to pull apart one night! :)

Hope you liked the cards. I am a little tied up sorting out raffle tickets for Crohn's and Colitis Group, so will hold off on listing all my supplies. If anyone wants to know where I got things from, it's all from Papertrey Ink!

See you laters!

Birthday cards

Long time no see! This seems to be my usual first line now!

I've been very busy over the last 3 weeks with barely any time to myself. Fortunately, I had cause to make some cards yesterday (namely brother's birthday!), so here they are!

I just had this random thought I should tie a dog to balloons (!!!). It worked rather well! And I am loving my new bookprints impression plate. It is awesome for just any card.

And I am still using my Copics and haven't quite lost my touch yet.

Then I also had to make a card for a little girl named India so that she's vaguely have it in time for her birthday in May all the way out in the Cook Islands!

I admit, I got a little lazy and this is pretty much the same card I made a year ago... just in pink. Old tricks are your best friend sometimes.

Anyway, hope you liked them. I might make more of the first card because it is just too cute.

I have made a new stamp order (because PTI just had to come up with the Star Gazer series... I have this thing for Astronomy/Constellations/Stars). So hopefully I'll make a few more in the next few weeks.

Otherwise, my life is going alright. Has been busy at the hospital last week seeing as I worked the entire weekend too. But I am enjoying it a lot (ENT rocks) :D

Thanks for popping by. Hope you all have an amazing day.

Easing back into crafting

So it's a weird feeling seeing your Cuttlebug again after 9 weeks of crafting-deprivation. I seriously hoped the ink pads would still be functional and I am proud to say they are still working (at least the ones I've tried!).

Anyway, my stamping mojo hasn't quite made it back from Aitutaki, so leading up to the blog hop in a few days, I decided I needed to do something very simple. As a result, I ended up making a card for a friend who has her big exams in a weeks time. Except, I pretty much copied a card I made previously, just in different colours. But anyway, it's a start...

As an added hidden detail, the bow has double tails. I did this by cutting off a length of ribbon and tying a bow around something small (e.g. lipstick) then pulling the bow out and cutting the "ring" created by forming the bow around the object. Trim the tails to lengths you want ;)

Anyway, simple as I warned you. But hopefully this will kick me into crafty mode before it gets too busy to even make Christmas cards! I hope to join everyone in the Blog Hop this week so wish me luck in getting crafty!

More Cards for Steph!

Okay... more cards! Woohoo.

Steph and I are stuck with her teenage boys cards. We don't exactly have masculine sets and it's hard to not make them look childish. But anyway, we'll figure something out. Or they'll just have to suck it up. LOL.

*EDIT - I just realised I double posted the first card. Replaced with something new!*

Next card, I had the coloured stripes and glitter on the side for a good few weeks. It was just sitting there because I had no idea what else to do with it. And then seeing as we weren't going to add sentiments, I thought, why not just chuck in a couple of flourishes and bling bling with rhinestones?

And another lazy card to finish off the post today.

So I've done 10 cards to help Steph so far. Not too bad given I only worked on it for 3 days now and I thought I didn't have any inspiration left. We still need to make more adult caregiver cards and some for teenagers which is a bit of a pain in the butt. But we'll get there.
Thanks for coming by!

Make It Monday #58 Part 2 - Hanging Out

Hello again!

My attempts to make several cards while home has fallen through the roof and I've only managed to make another one for Make It Monday and one for the Blog Hop tomorrow!

Here's something with my new Hanging Out set. I've used the graduated background with Copics, to add a bit of background colours to this little scene here.

I've also distressed the edges of the mat with my scissors a wee bit.

A close up view here. Sorry, I used scrap patterned paper and I'm a bit too lazy to search their names and brands.

Sorry it's a very quick post. I've got some packing to do before heading back down south! See you back with the Blog Hop!

Make It Monday #58 & Bundle of Love

Hello everyone! I am back!

I had one busy busy week and have just finished my run. I've been super stressed with my presentation (which I had to present to a single audience... <_<) and my oral assessment today. Now that it is out of the way, and I'm back home for another few days, I have time to get crafty again!

I spent Monday night till early hours of morning in birthing suite helping delivering babies. I managed to be present for 2 so now I have the job of making some baby girl cards to thank the new parents for letting me be at their special moment :)

And while I was at it, I thought I may as well tackle the new Make It Monday. Really, because I am flat out on ideas on how to use my newly purchased baby sets (someone decided to sell them on our local auction site for cheaper than what it's worth and brand new too!!!). I am also happy to announce that I now have Houndstooth too hahaha.

So here's my tackle on the graduated background using Copic Sketch Markers, and my new Bundle of Love set. I really don't have any fresh ideas to use this set -_-;;

But the torn edges go rather nicely don't you think?

Anyway that's one card down, one more to go.

Thanks for poppin' by! See you back soon with more cards :)

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
STAMP: [PTI] Bundle of Love

Happy Birthday Stephinka! :)

It's Stephinka's birthday today! I only just sent her a birthday card yesterday so it's not going to get to her in time for her birthday. Therefore I am posting it here so that she can at least visualise it. Also, Steph doesn't like surprises, so everyone go to her blog and wish her a big fat happy birthday!!!

So here's the card I made for her. And another of the same style. I am really into this style at the moment. I need more stamps to do more of this. But with all the recent PTI madness I don't think I'll be rushing to order any time soon. Even I am getting put off (but I have lots of reward points that needs to be munched up). Just as well I cleverly ordered cardstock before the new website rolled out (I really dislike the new website).

Sorry I digressed. Time for cards.

The stamp sets are from My Cute Stamps. I got them when they were on 50% sale on. As a matter of fact, I think they are still having it now!

Do you see the swirls on the tag in the background? It's from Winter Penguin set ;)

Thanks for coming by. Don't forget to pop on down to Steph's blog!

Night Night Moon Baby Card

Hello again everyone!

I've got another card to share with you all today. I've absolutely no motivation to study tonight and this is going to make me feel like I've done something! lol

I'm back down in Timaru and I've left all of my crafting gear at home, so I have nothing to play around with here T_T Dad just texted me this morning that my new purchases off someone has arrived today. Which means more baby stamp sets and houndstooth!!!!! But I will have to wait till next weekend to play with them <_<

Anyhow, here's a baby card to keep you entertained. I have to admit, the next three cards all look more or less the same. But I just love this style and technique. Stamp backgrounds with outlined images, then go around each image with T1 Copic Sketch marker for a bit of shading and then run it through the Woodgrain impression plate. It totally rocks <333

This card is specifically made for one of my patients who is eagerly waiting to deliver her baby next week. I seriously hope the baby is still a girl when we deliver her lol

I think this makes such a neat card. It's simple, yet has enough. And it's very very easy to colour coordinate too. Btw, I used my brand spanking new Berry Sorbet ink pad. It inks beautifully. Though I have to say, Orange Zest inks and stamps better than any I've ever tried. Anyway, a close-up view here. You should be able to see the Woodgrain Impression a bit better here.

Hope you enjoyed this post. Next two cards aren't really that different but hey, at least I'm posting now aren't I? ;)

Thanks for poppin' by!

Last Post for 2011

Hi everyone! It's already end of 2011 in New Zealand with less than 4 hours of the year left! A lot has happened this year and to sum it up into a word, I'd say "rollercoaster" is the word. Despite it all, I've made it through another year, and I'm happy to say my blog is still going! My past blogs have been failures as I've lost interest in updating them only after a few months.

Next year will be an interesting year for me as I finish off my degree (YES!!!), go on my long-awaited elective to Aitutaki, Cook Islands for 3 months (I've waited 6 years for this!) and some travel in between to different places around the country as I do my runs in a couple of different places ;) Should be exciting.

Ok, so last post of the year it is. And with lots of cards yet again! It just happened that my PTI order, MyCuteStamps order and things I bought from Jennifer on PTI forums all arrived yesterday and I had lots of new things to play with! I'm a bit overwhelmed, really! :D

So here's the card that I re-did from my previous post. I took out the Berry Sorbet cardstock out and just left it with Aqua Mist. I love how it goes so nicely with Kraft!!!

And by now you would have figured that I got Embellishments set recently and is going through a phase. I regret not getting this set earlier. The die for it just arrived yesterday in my PTI order (it had LOTS of dies!). I put the two die-cuts together and taped them. It makes a large embellishment die cut which is quite unique with two different colours ;)

I've gotten my hands on my 2nd Year of Flowers series set. I've kept this card simple and added some shimmer with the Mister Huey Color Mist. No sentiment on this one as I couldn't find a place for it. I coloured the flowers with my Copic markers. I wish I had a purple/mauve shade to colour the flowers. Pink isn't really the colour for Lily of the Valley, but I felt that it needed a little colour there somewhere.

And some cute cards now! I was sold on Tiny Tags when the second of the series came out recently. It's one set I never thought I'd get, but they are so cute!!! I admit that it was a bit of a mission transferring all the stamps onto my acetate sheet, because there were so many pieces!!!

The seal stamp is from My Cute Stamps. They are still doing the 50% off all stamps so if you were thinking of getting some earlier, get them now!!!

I also got Modern Wood Mats set and Diamonds impression plate in my recent order. I love this new IP! It's just gorgeous and you get so much more texture than the Tin Types IP.

Last card for the day, continuing on the cute theme. The cupcake stamp was also from My Cute Stamps and I coloured it with my Copics.

That's it for the year!!! Happy New Year to you all and may next year bring you lots of love, happiness and surprises (good ones!). Thanks for coming by :)

I'm Runnning Out of Post Titles

Hello everyone!

I hope everyone had a good Christmas. Things have been ok in Kiwiland with not too many big shakes in the last few days.

I've got lots of cards to share with you all today. I need to fill up my card box again now that it is looking rather empty after sending out my Christmas cards! And Mum's given me an order(?) to make lots of pretty cards to show off to relatives on New Year's Day haha.

So here they are. I am still misting and that bottle is going down fast. I'll be needing a new bottle soon at this rate!!! The first card is all about polka dots and getting out my cute wee Tiny Treats set out again :) I also managed to use up that little bit of ribbon I had left over which was good! I love this Melon Berry (PTI) and Calypso Coral (SU!) colour combo!

This next card was inspired by Maile Belle's card when Faith & Hope set was introduced. This may as well be a case... almost! I got out the mists out yet again to add a bit of colour and shimmer to the frame. Since I didn't have the Faith & Hope set, I got a similar looking stamp from Turning a New Leaf and went stamp-happy. It's a nice simple card. I love green on white <3

The next card was a Copic challenge for me. I don't think I've done many cards using Copics yet. I've used it the odd time on Tremendous Treats and Tiny Treats, but haven't really used it. I thought I'd try something a little different for once. It took a while to colour all those carnations in, but it adds something in the background certainly :) I got the sentiment from Half & Half set and decorated it with images from Vintage Labels set.

Here's a card that has all the right elements but the balance isn't quite right. It looks okay in the photo, but I'm just not quite satisfied with it. I think it's the glitter and shimmer - it's not really something that goes with kraft and rustic cream look. I might try again without all the shimmer and see if it looks better later. I do love the wee button on the Mat Stack with button twine.

Here's one last card for the day. It's another case of Maile Belle's card. As much as I love my Cupcake Collection, I could never seem to make that perfect cupcake in the right colour combo! So I just copied Maile's perfect little card with what I had at home. Instead of Simple Sentiments, I have used some Big Birthday Wishes set on the kraft Mat Stack die cut. And who needs shimmer cardstock when you have Mister Huey's Color Mists? :D

Anyway, that's it folks! I'll have some more (hopefully) later in the week. Thanks for coming by!

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas everyone! It's a beautiful sunny and warm day in Christchurch today!

I thought I'd share a quick card with you all before things get a bit 'mad' at my place tonight (it's grandma's birthday today in my family).

Anyway, it's Christmas and funnily enough, I made a Christmas card to say Merry Christmas to you all lol Either this card waits a year before being mailed out, or this can be my belated Christmas card for later ;)

I somehow managed to spray the Mister Huey mist with some blobs today! Thank goodness that blob over Santa Claus wasn't over his eyes!!! Hehe.

It's a simple card using my Copic Sketch Markers and Mister Huey mists.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas, and a fabulous time with all your loved ones.

Make It Monday #45

Hello again everyone!

Just a quick post. I have to make this quick so that I can get back to work! I have lots to get done in the next 24 hours for school so I really shouldn't have even attempted this week's MIM, but I just bought Copics a couple of weeks ago (finally!) and had to put it to use ;)
So, this week's MIM is basically heat embossing in white and then colouring with a Copic marker over the embossed image. Simple huh?

So here's my card for this week's challenge. I admit it's not my usual style, but I'm quite happy with it.

I did notice that the tips of my Copic markers went white with the white emboss. Not sure if this will have long term effects on my marker, but it seems to be ok for now.

Anyway, off to do my project. Thanks for coming :)

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
STAMP: [PTI] Simple Sunflower, Inside & Out: Birthday
INK: [PTI] Fresh Snow; Versamark
PAPER: [PTI] Kraft, Summer Sunrise, Dark Chocolate
OTHER: [SU!] Stampin' Embossing Powder (white); Copic Sketch Markers (Y35, Y38, E13, E25)
