Thank you card bonanza

Hi everyone.

Hope you have all been keeping well. Winter is coming in New Zealand and today it just happened to pour down with rain.

Anyway, I've been sick home most of the week with laryngitis. I lost my voice completely so it was only reasonable that I had to stay at home seeing as I can't talk to patients at work! However, I did feel really bad all week leaving my colleague to cross-cover for a 2-person job! I will have to make up for it next week (our last week too!) and let him go home early.

One of my good friends always seems to be needing thank you cards and he asked for a few the other day. So I dredged out whatever motivation I had and made some.

In honesty, I am terrible at making thank you cards, especially when they are going to be given to guys! Masculine cards are my weakness and I have a horrendous time designing them. So naturally I ended up Googling a lot of images and got lazy in the end. People seem to like my crappy cards too (yeah, the ones I really don't like). So some of these may look similar to cards you have seen around the net.

I do apologise in advance not being able to specify any inspirational sources as I didn't take note of any!

This one is definitely a case... I just can't remember where I got the original idea from! Sorry!

Also got inspiration of this from another blog... and as always I cannot remember the link!

So yes, lots of thank you cards...

But anyway, Angela from work is leaving for Canada to do her fellowship. It seems that everyone is leaving ENT at the end of this month. I change over to General Medicine at the end of this week :'( and our fellow is also leaving soon. Seems to be a time of change.

Anyway, I got asked to make a card for Angela. Our outpatients charge nurse suggested I should have "will work for shoes" on the card, because she is into her shoes ;)

I probably did go overboard with stars, but I have been having lots of fun with the Star Gazer set so much I could not resist! Wait till you see some of my other creations (except I'm saving them up for submissions!).

I decided we needed to have Bon Voyage at least somewhere in the card too... so it went inside the card.

Anyway, thank you for coming by!

I am currently feeling incredibly lazy and will not list all the supplies & tools but you are all welcome to email me and ask. All stamp sets and dies were from Papertrey Ink (except the Labels 1 die from Spellbinders).

Hope you all have a nice day!

Keep It Simple

Today is about keeping it simple. It's something I try to live by, though not always easy - at least I can keep my cards simple!

This card is something I've made a few times already, before the blog was born. I thought I would share today seeing that I now have replenished my stock of Rustic Cream cardstock :)

I stamped a large sentiment from Paper Smooches and heat embossed it with black embossing powder.

You can put just about any sentiment for this card. And I tied baker's twine arond the card with coordinating buttons to finish off!

Here's a close-up view which shows the embossing a little better.

I scored some lines where the baker's twine was to go, and found that it makes it easier to place the twine into place (and at an even intervals).

That's it for now! Will have to make more cards to share later since I've now run out of my stash!

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
STAMP: Paper Smooches Pretty Phrases
INK: Versamark (for embossing)
PAPER: PTI Rustic Cream
OTHER: Baker's Twine, Buttons, Black Filigree Embossing Powder, ScorBuddy

Thank You & Thinking of You Cards

My Papertrey Ink Stamp-A-Faire order finally arrived on Friday after a month of waiting!!!

Our recent snowstorms had backlogged all our parcels so my family ended up with 4 big boxes arriving altogether from the US, NZ & Korea! It also meant that I not only had stamps to play with, but also got my cardstock order arrive along with it! So I was busy ripping through the packages on Friday night.

I'm about to switch over to storing my stamps on acetate sheets in Tim Holtz stamp storage folders so I only opened up my stamps but didn't mount them into the CD cases. I've already ordered the pockets and acetate which will probably arrive in the next couple of days. I wasn't going to switch over, but everyone on PTI forums had been raving on how great the system was and I decided that it's better to switch early than late when I only have a handful of stamp sets that are already mounted in CD cases (only like 10).

Anyway, I've been swamped with tests and assessments lately and have had no time to play. I've got another couple next week and really need to get on with my studies, but I decided that I needed a day off to chill down a bit.

So here is what I came up with using my brand spanking new stamp sets from PTI <3

In the month I had been waiting for the order to arrive, I've made countless number of sketches of cards I wanted to make. I had to tweak this design a little, but I'm very pleased with the way it turned out ;)

So here they are:

It's a little subtle on the photo, but I used PTI Edgers #1 die at the bottom of the cards. I'm in love with the die and YOF: Carnations set <333

A close up view (just for the kicks). It's not that obvious but I foam mounted the Mat Stack #4 die cut. Do you like how I offset it off the side a bit? I think I spent a good 15 minutes trying to figure out what the best position of it would be!

And this is the inside of the pink card. This one was made for someone specific. It's a secret who it is, but some of you may be able to make a pretty good guess at it ;)

Like I said, I was so pleased the way they turned out, I think I'll make a few more later and keep them in my stash and maybe even sell some ;)

Thanks for coming by!
