A Mini Update

Hello everyone.

Sorry I've been rather quiet recently! I just haven't had time to make anything. The one card I did manage to make ended up as a PaperCrafts submission so fingers crossed for that one! hehe.

I'm going to be out of town for 2-3 months for my studies. I'm off to the beautiful Central Otago town, Cromwell, on Wednesday and there for a few weeks to 'work' at the general practice there. Then I'm off to South Canterbury for my other runs.

Because I now have a car, I am going to shove all my crafting gear into a box and take it with me. So hopefully I'll have time to do a bit more once I'm settled. Unfortunately I don't think I'll have a good camera with me (not that I ever had a decent one), so you'll have to put up with my phone!

Anyway, I hope everyone is faring well. Will give another update once I'm settled down in Cromwell, famous for their cherries and apricots (and in season now too!!!). YUMMY! :D

Sunshine Summer and Beaches

Hello all. It's been a beautiful summer's day in Christchurch today, so I thought I'd share a nice summery/beachy card!

I just made it last night, and thought I'd do a bit more of the 'window' cards - but this time, rather than a round window, I went for a whole strip of clear window (see photo below for what this means; I can't explain it in any better way).

So, what I did was to cut out about 1.25" strip in the middle of the card going horizontally. Then made a mat exactly same size as the base to go over. In between these two layers, I cut up a piece of plastic from PTI stamp set packaging and stuck it in. This way, the ends of the plastic and all the adhesives you use are hidden between the two cardstock layers and the card comes out much more professional.

Then I got one of my favourite patterned paper which I just haven't been able to use (one, because it's too pretty and two, I didn't know where to use it), and glued it onto the inside of the card so it shows through the window.

The next photo shows the layers and such a bit better.

I also ran the mat through the Diamonds impression plate for an extra touch. A ribbon to finish off. I left it simple so that the focus would be on the patterned paper showing through the window. Sentiment is from the Day at the Beach set :)

That's about it for today. Thank you for coming by!

Make It Monday #47 Part 2 - Glitterama

Hello everyone! I've got one more card to share with you today. I thought I'd go along with this week's Papertrey Ink Make It Monday #47, because of the diversity you can play along with!
This time, I'm going back to MIM #3 where you create glitter strips using double sided tape. It's a neat trick for making clean glitter strips, and double sided tape holds glitter pretty well. Unfortunately, I used the Prisma Glitter and ended up with glittered pair of black pants afterwards yet again lol

Sorry about the bad photo quality. It doesn't do justice for all the glitter that went into the card!!!

I thought I'd try using the glittered strips as the background, rather than just have a single strip for a bit of decoration. I finally brought out the Block Alphabet dies and decorated the rest. It took a while to get all the foam tapes cut up and stick the alphabets individually. It's a simple card, but the glitter certainly works.

Another thing you could do is to use different sized double sided tapes to add a bit more variation into the stripes :)

That's it for today. Thanks for coming by again!

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
PAPER: [PTI] Stamper's Select White, Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores
OTHER: [PTI] Block Alphabet die collection; [Palette] Prisma Glitter; [Sellotape] double-sided tape; foam tape

Make It Monday #47

Hello everyone. I'm joining in on the latest Papertrey Ink Make It Monday. This one's just looking back at 2011 and all the different MIMs we've done and going back to what we may have missed or doing over again!
So today I made a card using Edgers die pockets from Make It Monday #23: Pockets with Edger Dies. I only started my blog a few months ago as well as participating in challenges online recently, so I missed a lot of previous MIMs. So this is a good chance for me to see what I've missed out or couldn't do at the time due to not having enough things to improvise with!

Apologies for poor photo qualities. I will be getting a DSLR once I've paid my brother off for my recent car purchase!

I made pockets with Berry Sorbet cardstock using Edgers #3 die. I chucked in a Spiral Notebook Page die cut with sentiment from Modern Wood Mats. It's a fairly simple card all in all.

I'm horrendously tired today and I'm supposed to be in ED (aka A&E) all day tomorrow (all day and all night more like), so I may hit the haystack early tonight. Thank you for coming by! :)

Back to School... Almost!

Hi everyone! Last post before my Christmas break ends and I go back to class tomorrow!

I have a couple of cards to share with you today. I've found out that I was down to my last white cardstock O_O It was a bit of a shock, so I'm trying to use up as much Vintage Cream as possible in the meantime. I don't think I'm quite ready to make another cardstock order yet (though I'd love to right now!).

I've gone back to my pastel tones so Melon Berry and Spring Moss it is! :)

I think this is the first card I'm sharing with you using my new Parisian Lace Doily die. It's great, other than the fact that punching out the holes takes forever! I'm seriously thinking I might want that Punch Out tool!!!

The next card is using Modern Wood Mats stamp set. Everything's green here. I love green on white/cream! It has such a soothing, calm look about it. I topped it off with some Turning a New Leaf die cuts and Simply Chartreuse saddle stitch ribbon.

And I have to say, I love the Diamonds Impression Plate <3 It's going on just about all my projects at the moment.

That's it for today. Thanks for coming and visiting! I'll have more up soon. Have a fantastic day!

Happy 2012!

Happy New Year everyone!

I thought I'd share a couple more cards today using my new goodies! :)

The more and more cards I make, the more I realise the need for several ink colours!!! I've been holding out on the chocolate one (waiting for the new PTI one to come out) and I seriously need to get some Melon Berry, Berry Sorbet, Summer Sunrise shades! Hoping they're all released soon so I can order with more cardstock (I'm down to my last sheet of Rustic Cream and not much white left either T_T).

Anyway, let's get onto some cute cards, shall we?

The first one's the Winter Penguin card. I love that little fella! Such a cute wee penguin. And how great is it that we have penguins in New Zealand (yes! on our shores!!!). Unfortunately it's the middle of summer so I had to drop the "winter" bit out of the "Winter Penguin" set lol

I had to do a bit of set collage with this card. Melon Berry mat was impressed with Diamonds impression plate. I stamped the penguin from Winter Penguins, cupcake from Tag-Its #10, and the hat from My Cute Stamp's Spaceships and Robots set!!! It's a bit of a mix n' match, but I'm loving the combination!

The next card uses Tiny Tags II. I got the idea (pretty much copied, more like) of making a background using the Tiny Tags from Nichole Heady's card. Then I topped it with Tag-Its #10 and Pure Poppy ribbon.

And no, I didn't mist anything today! Haha.
Anyway, thank you all for coming by. Hope you all have a fab New Years Day with many joys and blessings in the year ahead :)
