Sunshine Summer and Beaches

Hello all. It's been a beautiful summer's day in Christchurch today, so I thought I'd share a nice summery/beachy card!

I just made it last night, and thought I'd do a bit more of the 'window' cards - but this time, rather than a round window, I went for a whole strip of clear window (see photo below for what this means; I can't explain it in any better way).

So, what I did was to cut out about 1.25" strip in the middle of the card going horizontally. Then made a mat exactly same size as the base to go over. In between these two layers, I cut up a piece of plastic from PTI stamp set packaging and stuck it in. This way, the ends of the plastic and all the adhesives you use are hidden between the two cardstock layers and the card comes out much more professional.

Then I got one of my favourite patterned paper which I just haven't been able to use (one, because it's too pretty and two, I didn't know where to use it), and glued it onto the inside of the card so it shows through the window.
The next photo shows the layers and such a bit better.

I also ran the mat through the Diamonds impression plate for an extra touch. A ribbon to finish off. I left it simple so that the focus would be on the patterned paper showing through the window. Sentiment is from the Day at the Beach set :)

That's about it for today. Thank you for coming by!

STAMP: [PTI] Day at the Beach
INK: [SU!] Early Espresso
PAPER: [PTI] Vintage Cream; [Imaginisce] Splash Dance/Coral's Reef

This card is definitely summery. We have been having warner than normal temps here in Ohio, but I still can't wait for winter to be over.
I love your crativity with this card. The clear window with the Impression & ribbon is so striking.
